Shock after police raided a go down along Mombasa Road in Nairobi and found nearly 5,000 bales of counterfeit and expired diapers. The police who impounded the diapers now say that the owner had hired workers to stick fake Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) stamps on the diapers worth approximately 30 million shillings.
The workers had also erased expiry dates on the diapers, most of which had lasted beyond their sell-by dates.
Kenyans are now wary of the number of counterfeit products in the market after police arrested several people in different parts of the country with contraband sugar believed to have been laced with mercury.
