Kenyans on twitter have reacted to the move by IEBC to fire Ezra Chiloba months after he was sent on compulsory leave early this year, pending an audit on procurement of election materials used in 2017 elections.
Mr Chiloba announced Friday evening in a tweet that that his employment at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has been terminated by chairman Wafula Chebukati.
“I received the employment termination letter signed by the chairman about an hour ago. The letter claims that I had twice been invited to appear before the disciplinary committee of the commission, but failed to show up, hence the decision to terminate my employment,” Mr Chiloba said
In a statement he shared on his social media pages, Chiloba said that it was not a surprise to him as his fate had been sealed and the investigation was done as only a ‘formality’.
“My employment termination should not be seen as an issue of my person but that of the holder of the office. It brings to focus the major governance crisis at the IEBC; an issue that will affect even the next office holder if the matter is not addressed,” he says.
Here are some of Kenyans reactions
@WChebukati is the person who has totally collapsed the image of IEBC but he has been using @ezraCHILOBA as a scapegoat. He must be answerable to all the problems at the IEBC. Chiloba is clean!

Honestly though, how holier is Wafula Chebukati, Boya Molu and Abdi Yakub Guliye than other Kenyans? This bunch of incorrigible public enemies should be sent packing from IEBC offices like they have done for Ezra Chiloba. They must go. They must go.

The whole IEBC must go! Appoint a caretaker Executive Chair and Commissioners for a single three term; their mandate: restore credibility and professionalism at IEBC. Ask a Marine; ask for volunteers!
