Kenyans on Twitter have implored the government to introduce Kibaki Day and Uhuru Day too, as celebrations to remember all presidents the country has ever had.
Moi day is backkkk #moiday dear @UKenyatta on behalf of Kenyans we are requesting also to have kibaki day and uhuruday as this will help kids not forget the number of presidents so far we have had … pic.twitter.com/DvWibDaaK6

This is after Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i declared Wednesday, 10th October as a public Holiday.
A court ruling in November 2017 reinstated the day to be marked as a holiday on grounds its removal was in contravention of the Public Holidays Act.
“Going by the court’s decision, therefore, October 10 shall be a public holiday,” Matiang’i said in a statement to the media on Monday. “Owing to the elaborate celebrations lined up for all our heroes on Mashujaa Day (October 20), I make no pronouncement on the manner in which October 10 shall be celebrated.”
Even though the move has been received well by most Kenyans, since they will get to rest, a section of people have been critical as they are not sure what they will be celebrating on the day.
Is Moi day is part of the handshake agreement !? Why has it been inactive for some some years #MoiDay

“Kenyans love holidays”. I remember working for a German & he complained about this everyday. He used to brag about how Germany always votes on a Sunday so that Monday they can be at work.
While they rest of the world is working, Kenyans are taking holidays & vacays.

Daniel Arap Moi is NOT a hero. He is one of the worst PLUNDERERS (that’s a person who does more than loot) in the world. He murdered, tortured and exiled thousands of Kenyan students, writers and intellectuals. Kenyans need JUSTICE; not holidays! #moiday https://t.co/JMoFW7fKxS

Rather than celebrate Moi’s violent repression of Kenyans, state torture, corruption, and systematic destruction of state institutions, I choose to honor those who lost their lives and the brave survivors of his brutal regime #MoiDay

CS @FredMatiangi is now respecting a court order on #MoiDay while there are 13 court orders declaring the deportation of @MigunaMiguna ILLEGAL. You can’t decide which Court orders to respect and disrespect. Cc @GKihalangwa @NPSOfficial_KE
