Ochilo ama Obado? Who will end the day with a smile?

Monday October 8 promises to be a big and eventful day for Migori Governor Okotho Obado, and ODM senatorial candidate George Ochillo Ayacko.

Migori County has headed to the ballot for a senatorial by election following the demise of former senator Ben Oluoch Okello who succumbed to throat cancer in June this year.

Ayacko has an upper hand in the elections as ODM Party has its roots in the county, with the fact that Ayacko has a wide range of political knowledge in Migori.

He is facing a stiff competition from the youthful Federal Party of Kenya candidate Eddy Oketch Gicheru.

Faced with claims of having a hand in the murder of Sharon Otieno last month, Obado will on Monday know whether High Court Judge Jessie Lessit will release him on bail or not.

Last week, the Migori County boss applied to be released on bail citing the deteriorating status of his health after being admitted at Kenyatta National Hospital for stomachache.

He has been in custody for over ten days now, since judge Lessit denied him bail late last month.

Obado will most definitely have a sigh of relief if the judge pronounces his release on bail.

Anything short of that will be heartbreaking not only to him and his family, but his supporters as well.

It has been christened a battle between ODM leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto, who is alleged to be supporting Oketch.

The stakes are high for Ayacko. A win will make him the third Migori County Senator, while defeat will send him back to the political cold until 2022.
