Generally, honeymoon is considered to be a time for newlyweds to escape the normalcy of life and spend some quality time together immediately they exchange the nuptials.
In most cases, couples tend to travel quite a distance and explore the world together. It is therefore no doubt that taking a honeymoon is one of the most important things that a newly wedded couple will experience.
It is often said that the wedding is for the guests, and the honeymoon is for the couple. Couples need time to recover, rejuvenate, and rewind. Especially here in Kenya, where everything seems to be going haywire, an escape of that nature should be grabbed by all means.
However, that is not the case for Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata who wedded his better half in a beautiful wedding that was even attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
However, lawmaker didn’t take his newlywed wife, Mary Wambui for a honeymoon holiday.
In most cases like this, not going for on honeymoon is usually attributed to either lack of enough funds or time. Clearly, the former is not an issue here.
It is believed that a honeymoon provides your first memorable moments as a couple. It sets the stage on how a couple treats each other, and prepares the path to marriage bliss.
It is usually advised that couples should go on honeymoon because a romantic trip will definitely bring back some unforgettable moments to cherish the whole life.
But for Senator Irungu, time didn’t allow them to create these unforgettable honeymoon moments.
Speaking to Heads Up, he revealed that they didn’t go for honeymoon since he had to lecture at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA)
“I didn’t see any need for a honeymoon. In any case, I didn’t want to miss class and delay my students from graduating,” the lawmaker said.
