Exiled Kenyan lawyer Miguna Miguna has sensationally claimed that the referendum call being pushed by ODM Leader Raila Odinga is part of a handshake deal that will allow President Uhuru Kenyatta to become Prime Minister in 2022. Miguna claimed Odinga and President Kenyatta had made the alleged deal during the much-hyped handshake on March 9.

“The HandCheque is a plan to extend @UKenyatta’s tyranny via a referendum that will turn him into an all-powerful PM and his new lap-dog @RailaOdinga into a funeral-attending President. The Ka-Putin agenda must be defeated. Kenyans want a REVOLUTION,” Miguna said.

Odinga has called for the introduction of the Office of the Prime Minister, saying it was tied to the handshake deal as it would change the structure of the executive and “lessen the burden on taxpayers.”

The self-declared General referred to a situation in Rusia where current President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in 2012 swapped roles in part of a strategy that helped them avoid the constitutional limit on their respective terms.

Last year, the President’s close ally and Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe told a vernacular station that they were considering a “Putin-Medvedev” situation as Kenyatta’s retirement plan.
