Mutahi Ngunyi stirs mixed reactions after backing Raila’s referendum calls

Kenyans on Twitter were on Friday divided in opinion after controversial political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi said ODM party leader Raila Odinga is right on push for a referendum.

“On referendum, Raila is dead right. We ate a half-baked constitution. Now we are politically constipated. We must change “Katiba Mbichi”. What do you think?” Mutahi tweeted.

Raila was on Thursday traversing Migori county in a bid to campaign for his candidate Achilo Ayacko in the October 8 Migori senatorial by-elections.

While addressing Migori residents at Rongo, Raila maintained that Kenya will go to a referendum if it has to realise the goals of the Building Bridges initiative.

He said calls to change the constitution and the structure of government are tied to the peace initiative which followed the March 9 handshake.

However, Kenyans on twitter have reacted differently to Ngunyi’s tweet which was supporting Raila’s referendum calls.

Some have argued that the country has no money to hold the referendum while others supported him reiterating that MCAs and Women representative posts have to be scrapped.

Here are some of the reactions.
