DETAILS: Melania Trump’s meeting with Margaret Kenyatta

 

Kenyan First Lady Margaret Kenyatta today hosted US First lady Melania Trump at state house Nairobi where the two had discussions on the agendas that had earlier been stated.

Melania Trump arrived in the country last night and was welcomed by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta and US envoy Robert Godec .  Kenyan First Lady Margarett  Kenyatta gave her a warm welcome and indicated the plans on their today’s schedule.

As drafted the the presidency website, their talks focused on matters of health especially the welfare of mothers and children, and conservation, subjects that are close to the hearts of the two First Ladies. The Kenyan First Lady is the Patron of the innovative and transformative Beyond Zero initiative which concerns itself with health interventions for mothers and children especially the elimination of mother-to-child HIV infections and reducing the transmission of the scourge among adolescents.

On her part Melania Trump is the founder and promoter of the “Be Best” initiative designed to improve the welfare of Children.

 

 

First Lady Margaret Kenyatta then took time to show her visitor visual presentations and artistic impressions of the proposed Sh 2 billion Beyond Zero model referral hospital that the Kenyan First lady plans to implement as part of her legacy. During their discussions, the First Lady also honoured the visitor with a copy of Beyond Zero’s strategic framework for 2018-2022 which she launched earlier in the year.

Mrs Trump who arrived in Kenya on Thursday evening leaves the country Saturday morning on her way to Egypt where she will conclude her solo one week tour of four African countries that included Ghana and Malawi.

Later, the two First Ladies proceeded to the Kenya National Theatre where they were treated to 45-minutes of live cultural performances staged by Sarakasi group, a Nairobi-based dancing and acrobatic group.
