Bandari FC head coach Bernard Mwalala is satisfied with his team’s performance this season after sealing a second place finish in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL).

Bandari achieved an unassailable 59 points with a one all draw with Sofapaka on Thursday 27th September in Mombasa.

It’s the first time in Kenyan Premier League history that the team has finished in second position and Mwalala is proud of the milestone.

“It’s an achievement for the team. Bandari has never finished in the second position and I am happy that we have reached some milestone. The target now is to win the remaining two games and move past the 60-points mark,” he said.

For the first time under his leadership, Bandari had to fight from a goal down against Sofapaka and Mwalala says he’s happy with the fighting spirit his team exhibited.

“Since I joined Bandari we had never conceded first in a game and going into the break a goal down helped me gauge the character and fighting spirit in the team.

My players responded well in the second half and it shows that we have the character,” he added.

Mwalala took over at Bandari in June 2018 replacing Ken Odhiambo who stepped aside.
