Pep Guardiola has said that star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne will return to training in the coming days.

Speaking ahead of his team’s home game against Brighton, the Manchester City manager has spoken about the Belgian’s progress in his rehabilitation from a knee injury.

De Bruyne suffered knee ligament damage in a training session in August and it had been feared that he could be out for up to four months, however it appears he will be back sooner than expected with Guardiola stating:

“He’s making the last steps,”. “He’ll start taking a small part in training in the next days I think. Everything is going well.”

The Catalan also provided an update on Benjamin Mendy, who he says is also progressing well, but was unhappy that the left-back was late for a treatment session on Sunday after he’d seen Anthony Joshua knock out Alexander Povetkin the night before.

“He should be here. He knows it. I spoke with him,” Guardiola said.
