Arsenal youngster Smith-Rowe to stay put after impressing

Arsenal fans were impressed with Emile Smith-Rowe’s display against Brentford on Wednesday night.

The youngster was handed his full debut in the Carabao Cup clash which  Arsenal won 3-1.

Smith-Rowe played just over an hour before being replaced by Alexandre Lacazette, who wrapped up the win.

He was a regular in pre-season under new boss Unai Emery and after catching the eye it was suggested he may well move out on loan to aid his progress.

But Emery has told the midfielder he will remain at the Emirates as he looks to make more outings in domestic and European cup competitions.

The Arsenal Academy graduate said, “We spoke about my development and the boss was clear that I remain at the club and not go out on loan, he said that I will have opportunities and that was music to my ears. I would love to play. It’s a strange situation for me because I know I have to be patient as I’m very much on a learning curve, but having had a taste of first-team football, you want more.”
