Hazard is the club’s prized asset and has started the season in blistering form. But with the Belgium superstar inside the final two years of his contract at Stamford Bridge, a decision over his future is looming.

Chelsea were forced to sell Hazard’s international team-mate Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid in August after he turned down fresh terms with just 12 months left on his contract. And with Hazard in a similar situation, the Blues could be forced into taking action too.

Journalist Duncan Castles thinks the attacking ace, 27, could be persuaded to stay though. Speaking on last week’s episode of the Transfer Window Podcast, he said: “He’s not the most aggressive of individuals, he’s a guy who enjoys his family life, his downtime.

“That could be to Chelsea’s advantage. If they can catch him during this season during a period where he’s enjoying life and football, scoring goals, being lauded for his play, offer him the terms or an increase on the contract they offered him last season they could get him essentially for the rest of his career.
