‘Delayed salaries are not a new thing’ Gor Mahia chairman responds

Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier has  admitted that players have gone without pay but are set to be paid at the end of the day adding that he is not aware of Dylan Kerr being unsettled.

K’Ogalo players have been on a “go slow”, absconding training for almost two weeks over unpaid wages by the club. Various players have missed Gor Mahia’s match day squads in recent games and the players made their protests clear when they posed for a team photo while squatting in the 2-0 loss to Ulinzi Stars on Wednesday 19th September.

Rachier cleared the air over the salaries issue noting that the players have only gone for a month without pay, “Players been paid till 31st July. There has been an incitement to boycott training. Delayed salaries are not a new thing in Kenya.” The K’Ogalochairman added that he has no idea of Kerr being unsettled in the club, “I am not aware the coach is disgruntled, He has a 2 -year contract with the club.”

The players will, however, receive a massive boost as the Rachier confirmed their salaries will be cleared today, “We will pay salaries by COB(Close of Business) today.”

Gor Mahia have been on a poor run of form having lost their past three Premier League matches and it is not a coincidence when you factor in that the team has not been paid for two months.
