Stuart Pearce recently described Liverpool’s James Milner as the best ‘pound-for-pound’ player in the Premier League.
After a summer of investment on Merseyside, with Fabinho and Naby Keita arriving in midfield, many would have assumed the former Manchester City man’s time was up at Anfield. However, the former England international has continued to shine under Jurgen Klopp and has received plenty of plaudits after five Premier League games this season.
James Milner is so underrated, his work rate is ridiculous ⚽️ 👏

James Milner has scored but, more than anything, he has been outstanding yet again so far tonight. Proof that if you look after yourself, work hard and listen to your manager, you can be brilliant deep into your career.

If James Milner smashes Neymar again and he has to go off injured, I’ll get ‘Milner 7’ tattooed on me. #LIVPSG

About time we figured out a way to work James Milner into that song. Some engine for a "vintage" model 👍
