Kenyans React to KFCB Advert Ban

The Kenya Film Classification Board has banned two more Adverts from airing on main stream media platforms, Television and Radio.

While speaking on a panel  in one of the local Tv stations, KFCB CEO Dr. Eziekiel Mutua said the banned Pwani Oil and Marie Stopes Kenya adverts were airing without compliance to the provisions of the Films and Stage Plays Act, Cap 222 of the Laws of Kenya and the Programming Code for Free-to-Air Radio and TV stations in Kenya.

However, Kenyans have gone to social media to react over the ban, some citing that Dr Mutua is just but trying to convince them that he is working.

With KFCB having a mandate of controlling and regulating the content aired on all Free-to-Air Radio and TV stations in Kenya, Kenyans now want it to look into Adverts that carry content not suitable for Children’s viewing.

They want Dr. Mutua to check on the time Sex Safety adverts are aired on TV stations.

Kenyans now claim that Condoms are advertised during any time of the day whilst carrying content not suitable for children under the ages of 18.

They further claim that some adverts on the use of Condoms are scripted and produced in a way that seems to encourage rape in the society.
