Members of parliament are today Tuesday expected to hold a special sitting to discuss President Uhuru Kenyatta’s 8% VAT tax on petroleum products, a proposal he made after rejecting MP’s bill to suspend the tax from taking effect until 2022 April.
How much tax revenue has been lost subsidizing emergency imports of sugar, maize and fertilizer? How much money collected by KRA has been wasted and stolen at MOH, NYS, NPCB, KPA, NLC, etc et al ad nauseum? Voting no on VAT is easy and does not show integrity or moral courage!

The Kenyan law makers are now the only hope for Kenyans as they have put all their eyes on them, calling for a soberly act on the proposed Tax.
They claim the tax on petroleum products has risen the economy thus calling for MPs rejection of the President’s proposal for them to save the nation’s economy.
Cut everyone’s budget by 5 percent.
That is 125b spending cuts.
Give 25b to Judiciary and the other agencies H.E mentioned.
Scrap VAT on fuel altogether
You will still be left with enough money to further reduce the deficit & no need to impose additional taxes.

Coincidentally, Tuesday’s three main papers on their editorial pages are calling for the legislators to rise up to the occasion and act soberly for them to sort out the issue they had earlier started.
