Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Friday announced that the county will partner with giant milk processing firm Brookside to offer two packets of milk weekly to more than 17,ooo ECDE children.
According to Sonko, the goals of the project include; addressing specific micro-nutrient deficiencies, alleviate short- term hunger and improve cognition, motivate parents to enroll their children in school and improve attendance and promote community participation.
And the news have received different reactions from Kenyans, with most of them congratulating the governor. Most Kenyans have nostalgic memories of the Maziwa ya Nyayo era in which primary school pupils received a packet of milk under the Moi regime in the 90s.

The reason why this beverage is one of the better healthy drinks for a child is that it has a lot of nutrients. #MaziwaYaSonko pic.twitter.com/NgJh2OFfQV
