Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko today attended the launch of free milk program for public ECDE centers in Nairobi at Martin Luther Primary. Sonko’s government in partnership with Brookside Dairy Ltd will deliver a packet of milk twice a week to all children in 229 public ECDE centres within Nairobi.
The expectation is that, about 200,000 pupils, between 6 and 12 years, will benefit from the program which will be introduced in other counties in the course of the year.
Apparently, the milk program is targeting schools as a way of increasing consumption of daily products as well a creating awareness of dieting as a way of promoting a healthy lifestyle.
In regard to this move, some kenyans online have applauded this initiative saying that it is a way of showing great concern to the nutritional needs of children.
