Shock! Man Reveals how KPLC billed him ksh 600,000 for two months

Man sues Kenya Power over Ksh.616K two-month bill

A man has sued Kenya Power for billing him Ksh.616,000 for electricity used at his home over a period of two months.

In a petition filed at the Milimani Law Courts on Monday, Alan Donovan says Kenya Power charged him the outrageous amountĀ for the month of April and May this year, despite him being away from his residence on several occasions during the said period.

The petitioner says that after receiving the huge bill, he raised a complaint with the power company requesting to have the bill re-evaluated and corrected.

However, the petitioner claims that on June 6, 2018 Kenya Power informed him that his account for the period between November 2016 to March 2018, as per bills he had been paying, had been calculated erroneously.

He further told the court that on September 4, 2018 Kenya Power disconnected electricity supply at his home without notice after he failed to pay the amount.

Donovan accuses Kenya Power of abusing its monopoly by disconnecting electricity for backdated and unexplained amounts without addressing valid concerns that he raised.
