The Brazilian was brought in during the summer transfer window from Monaco in a deal worth £43.7m. Fabinho was among four new signings that Klopp brought in as he looks to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title.

Naby Keita and Alisson have played starring roles so far, while Xherdan Shaqiri has been limited to two cameo appearances off the bench.

But Fabinho is yet to play for his new club, with James Milner being utilised as a holding midfielder.

There have been concerns over Fabinho’s fitness and Klopp is in no rush to throw him in.

The versatile midfielder missed out on Brazil’s squad for the World Cup but he’s been selected for the upcoming friendlies against the United States and El Salvador.

And Klopp hopes the 24-year-old is afforded some playing time in order to put him in contention when the Premier League resumes.

“Nothing [is wrong],” he said.

“He could have been in the squad but it’s quite difficult when they are all fit. It’s good to have the situation, but one needs more time or the others are already used to it.That’s the only reason. He will come back. He already makes big steps in the last few weeks.Hopefully, he will have games for Brazil and have that. Then it’s games, games, games and the whole of September.”

“I don’t know how many, but a lot. We need all of them.

“It looked like we didn’t need all of them because we played a consistent line-up. But the level in training was high because of that, it’s all cool.Hopefully, they come back healthy and we have to use them all.”

Liverpool have won all four of their Premier League games so far and currently sit top of the table, level on points with Chelsea and Watford. Following the international break they return to action with a trip to Tottenham.
