As part of efforts to combat terrorism in the region, UK Prime Minister May said she would soon authorize a new funding deal for the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) troops in Somalia as it seeks to support Kenya in the fight against terrorism.
During a joint media briefing with Prime Minister Theresa May on Thursday, President Uhuru Kenyatta said Kenya was keen on harnessing on existing trade and security pacts with the United Kingdom for the attainment of the Big Four development agenda.
“The UK continues to support the commitment of brave Kenyan soldiers fighting in Somalia against the Al-Shabaab and I’ll announce a new package of funding to support the AMISOM,” she said.
From the meeting of Theresa May and Uhuru it seems AMISOM is here to stay for a long time. I sometimes think no one really wants peace in Somalia because most of those benefiting from billions injected as AID to AMISOM fear peace. The more the war the merrier #KenyaUKrelations

“Fighting corruption is an important aspect of my legacy programme together with the unity of the country and the attainment of our Big Four centered on investment in housing, manufacturing, food security, and universal health,” President Uhuru said.
“The UK is already the largest investor in Kenya and I have set out this week our ambition to be the G7’s largest investor in Africa by 2022,” she said.
