For a very a long time, I have always believed that Instagram is not for us Africans. Because, according to me it is platform for people to show off their wealth, looks, skills et cetera. Now very few Africans have something to show off.

But because, we are Kenyans.. we know how to use the phrase fake it, till you make it. The problem with this is you never know when your 40th day will come and you’re found out, and it will turn out to be your worst nightmare.

Take the story of former NTV host Kobi Kihara for example. Ms Kihara, who is now in the United States for studies, took to her Instagram and posted a picture of a salad she claims to have made herself.

Kobi had gone to the extent of giving the salad’s recipe to one of her followers who wanted to try it out, telling her that she found it in her mother’s fridge.

“Sawa honey will do: Recipe: it’s sliced cherry tomatoes, then mixed lettuce, you can find this kind in Zuccini or Chandarana in Nai, sundried tomatoes, bacon (fry till hard then break it up to small pieces), sliced grilled chicken, red onion, add spice of your choosing~I added rosemary, you can’t see it but I added cherry raisins and peanuts then of course Avocado baby! The dressing is pear vinaigrette, it’s so good! I found in my mums fridge.”

Now things were going so well until Radio host Shaffie Weru busted her, saying she saw the same picture on Pinterest.

Turns out the photo of the Rosemary chicken, bacon and avocado salad  was lifted from the internet. It belongs to a blogger called How Sweet Eats.

The post has since gone viral and K.O.T can’t have enough of Kobi the copy paster. We managed to get some posts from Twitter:
