Mourinho slowly becoming like Arsene Wenger says Arsenal legend

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has claimed that Jose Mourinho is beginning to look like Arsene Wenger.

Wright says Mourinho is in danger of emulating Wenger’s “car-crash” Emirates ending. He believes no-one watching United right now can be happy with what they are seeing. Mourinho opened up his United tenure with League Cup and Europa League successes in his debut season, before finishing second last year.

The Special One has been heavily criticized especially in the recent match where his side lost 3-2 to Brighton. The former Chelsea boss expressed his disappointment having failed to land his summer targets. He was keen to bolster his defence but things did not go to his plans. His relationship with players such as Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial has been in question as well as executive vice-chair Ed Woodward.

Now, according to Wright, Mourinho is already at a stage where the exit looks likely, and the ex-Gunners hitman believes Mourinho’s current situation is strikingly similar to Wenger’s Arsenal exit.

“The saddest thing of all when I look at United under Jose Mourinho? As much as I respect him as a manager, I can’t see any way it is going to turn around,” he said.

“We all know about Jose and his third-year syndrome. But, listening to him talk, it’s as though even he has accepted it himself. It has me screaming: ‘Come on, man. You’ll go down as one of the greats, but the way you’re acting will tarnish everything you’ve done’. In many ways, it’s like the last days of Arsene Wenger. People were watching Arsenal because it was car-crash football. United are fast turning into the same,” he added.

Following the weekend’s defeat, Man United will be hopeful of bouncing back when they host Tottenham Hotspur in the third match of the Premier League.
