Leicester City have confirmed they will not appeal Jamie Vardy’s sending off against Wolves. Vardywas shown a red card by referee Mike Dean for his reckless challenge on Wanderers defender Matt Doherty in the second half Saturday’s 2-0 win at the King Power.

After just returning to action after his World Cup break, Vardy will serve a three-match ban and miss Saturday’s game at Southampton, the EFL Cup clash with Fleetwood and the trip to Liverpool.

The forward will available for selection for the Premier League game against Bournemouth on September 15.

It’s the third time the England striker has seen red in the top flight since the start of the 2015/16 campaign.

His absence will be a huge miss, especially against Jurgen Klopp’s side as Vardy has hit seven goals in his last five outings against the Kop.

Yesterday, Vardy spent a day at the races at the back of his mind knowing the club would not be challenging his dismissal.

The 31-year-old was accompanied by Foxes skipper Wes Morgan and watched on as Chonburi, owned by Leicester City chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha won the Gallowgate Nursery Handicap.

Srivaddhanaprabha had five other runners at the meeting, but none of them managed to win.

Meanwhile, Wilfred Ndidi has signed a new six-year deal at the King Power.

Foxes top brass acted to tie down the Nigerian World Cup star, 21, amid growing interest from rivals Arsenal and Liverpool.

Wolves are looking for their first Premier League win as Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering Manchester City visit Molineux on Saturday.
