Jurgen Klopp has revealed he “did not have the right words” to speak to Loris Karius after the Champions League final.

Karius made two high-profile mistakes in Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League final in May.

The German has since lost his place in the first team to new goalkeeper Alisson, with a loan move to Besiktas in the pipeline.

It is quite the fall from grace for Karius, and Klopp has explained why he barely spoke to the 25-year-old after the game in Kiev.

“I am a strong supporter of the idea of just shutting up if you don’t have the right words,” Klopp told Sport 1. “And other than a few comforting words I did not have the right words. I did not have a clue what you could say.

“Neither was I angry at him nor was I disappointed in him or something else. I only saw his situation, and everyone would love to have the right words. I didn’t have them. And that’s why we left it at it that evening but for a few words.

“By now, I talked to him. Not only about this. The situation is clear and everything’s good.”Related image

Karius looks set to join Besiktas. The shot-stopper also made multiple mistakes in pre-season which appears to have made up Jurgen Klopp’s mind regarding his short-term Liverpool future.

Karius is now expected to complete a late loan move to Turkish giants Besiktas in the coming days – and former Reds forward Babel appears to have all-but confirmed the move on social media.

Karius took to Instagram to post a picture on Monday evening with the caption ‘next up Crystal Palace’.

But Babel didn’t appear to believe the goalkeeper was actually on his way to south London, replying to his counterpart’s post with a sarcastic eye emoji.

Fans flocked to the post, adamant it was Babel’s way of confirming Karius would soon be playing in the Super Lig.
