This past weekend saw Ed Sheeran kick off his massive tour of the United States with a sell-out show at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.

Among the 90,000 fans packed into the arena, one quite literally stood head and shoulders above the rest, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic taking time out of his busy schedule to enjoy the show.

As you might expect, the LA Galaxy striker was in typically humble form on social media having met with Sheeran after the gig to trade jerseys.

Los Angeles was without leading scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic and designated players Giovani dos Santos, Jonathan dos Santos, and Romain Alessandrini.

Ibrahimovic indicated earlier in the week that he did not want to play on Seattle’s turf and risk re-injuring his knee, so did not make the trip. Giovani dos Santos (leg), Jonathan dos Santos (groin), and Alessandrini (knee) all were out with injuries. Starting defender Michael Ciani (hamstring) also was sidelined.

Marshall scored late in the third minute for his third of the year and Seattle’s quickest goal of the season. Shipp’s third of the year made it 2-0 in the 18th minute.

An own goal off the foot of Servando Carrasco pushed the lead to 3-0 in the 50th minute. Roldan scored in the 59th for his third of the year, and Ruidiaz finished the rout in the 67th with his second.

Ibrahimovic has been putting together a somewhat under-the-radar bid for MVP, racking up 15 goals and seven assists in 19 appearances. His goals+assists per 90 of 1.39 would set a MLS record if he were to maintain it for the rest of the season. Josef Martinez, who will almost certainly shatter the single-season goals record, has a G+A/90 of 1.29.

Still, the Galaxy have not exactly fallen apart when Ibrahimovic is unavailable. They are 3-2-1 in those matches, albeit averaging 1.33 goals per game as opposed to the 2.10 they average when he plays.
