Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has said he is not in support of the ongoing demolitions suggesting that owners of the condemned property should be forced to ‘divert rivers’ at their own cost instead of demolishing the buildings.
“… mimi hapana support ubomoaji. Mambo iangaliwe, kama kuna nyumba yako inakaribiana na mto wewe uambiwe ni gharama yako kuhakikisha hiyo mto imesonga kidogo. Lakini kubomoa nyumba is not a solution. Honestly speaking. It is such a big loss,” the seemingly angry governor said in a video that has now gone viral.
The governor said NEMA and Nairobi county government should look for alternative ways instead of bringing down property worth billions.

Kiambu governor, Ferdinand Waititu, is opposing the demolitions on riparian land because he doesn’t understand the meaning of RIPARIAN.

Ferdinand Waititu now says the govt must stop the demolition of buildings sitting on riparian land; and give time for the structure owners to move the wetlands further away from their buildings. Yes, you heard that right. And you can’t make this stuff up.
