Katy Perry pays home visit to a fan after being diagnosed with brain tumour

Katy Perry has gone to a fan who couldn’t go to her, after she was admitted to hospital for a brain tumour operation. The Firework singer sweetly visited Grace Moores after she caught wind the little fan wasn’t able to make her Adelaide show in Australia this week, simply dropping by the family home like it was no big thing. How’s that for a celebrity visit! It was reported by ABC in Australia that Grace was diagnosed with a six centimetre brain tumour in April, but had to go into an unplanned surgery last week – meaning she wouldn’t have been well enough to attend Katy’s show.

That just didn’t fly with Katy, who was keen to make sure her Kittykat got a hug in person after the eight-year-old’s plight went viral after her sister posted it online and it clocked more than 20,000 retweets. ‘RETWEET PLEASE!’ the post began. ‘My baby sister is meant to attend @katyperry concert in Adelaide this year but was diagnosed with a 6cm Brain tumour and has been battling all year, grace has love been Katy’s biggest fan since she was 3, please help us try and get in contact with @katyperry xx’

That message was heard loud and clear, and Tiana let fans know, who were following the story, that Katy made it. ‘GUYS WE DID IT!’ she wrote on Twitter on Tuesday. ‘@katyperry just visited grace! She’s truely amazing and such a sweet person this was truely amazing!’ The girls said the singer ‘sang three of her songs and look at our bedrooms’, with the singer sharing footage to her own Instagram account of the sisters trying on some tour merch. The girls’ mum Marie Moores said the little one wanted to be well enough to go to the show.

‘It was the one thing she had been looking forward to for so long,’ she said. ‘Even through all of this, it was like ‘I want to get better to see Katy’ and the setback last week stopped that a little bit.’ Katy has earned some more fans and solidified the love of her long standing ones with the heart-warming gesture. ‘I just want to sincerely thank you taking the time out of your busy schedule to visit a sick little girl this week here in Adelaide,’ one said. ‘It’s artists like you that have honest compassion for your fans that makes you well loved..’ MORE: KATY PERRY

Katy Perry revealed she suffered from ‘situational depression’ after the negative reception to her album Witness. The 33-year-old released her fifth studio album last year and, while it topped the album charts in the US, it received mixed reviews from critics and fans alike. As well as this, Witness didn’t produce any number one hits, unlike her biggest record Teenage Dream which produced six. The lead single from Witness – Chained To The Rhythm – peaked at number four. Katy has admitted that the reaction to Witness ‘broke her heart’, causing her bouts of depression.

The Swish Swish singer said: ‘I have had bouts of situational depression and my heart was broken last year because, unknowingly, I put so much validity in the reaction of the public and the public didn’t react in the way I had expected to, which broke my heart. ‘Music is my first love and I think it was the universe saying: “Okay, you speak all of this language about self-love and authenticity, but we are going to put you through another test and take away any kind of validating “blankie”. Then we’ll see how much you do truly love yourself”.’ Katy added that she is doing much better now, and said that her mental health struggles gave her a ‘wholeness I never had’.
