Snacks That Can Help You Burn Fat

Snacking…ahh that wonderful moment when you’re slightly hungry, but not too hungry. What should you be eating? You want to maintain that healthy physique or perhaps lose weight, but you know that sometimes snacks aren’t the healthiest things in the world. While grazing is considered very good for weight loss or maintaining weight, some items we put in our mouths and ultimately our bodies just shouldn’t make the cut. We all know those skinny people who can eat whatever they want and not become overweight, but that doesn’t mean they are healthy either. So what are some amazing snacks that actually help burn fat?

There are plenty of snacks out there that actually burn fat. The idea is to get the right nutritional balance in a snack that gives you energy while helping your body become healthier. It all starts with that ratio. Oh, and let’s not forget calories DO count! So being calorie-conscience is not only a good idea but mandatory. A recommended snack by most nutritionists should be under 200 calories and should have a high amount of fiber and protein. So here are some great snacks that fit the “burning fat” snack bill.

1. An Apple and skim milk
“Almost any fruit is going to make a great snack, but you usually want to pair it with a bit of protein to make it more satisfying,” says Bowerman, a nutritionist; “unlike carbohydrates, which get used up relatively quickly, protein will help sustain your energy and hunger levels for a couple of hours.”
This combo boasts 5 grams of fiber and 10 grams of protein. It might be just over 200 calories, but it still fits the bill.

2. Cottage cheese filled avocado
This one is creamy and savory. And yes it’s another fruit and dairy combo, but sometimes that combo is the best to burn the fat away. Here’s what you do: you will remove the pit from one half of the avocado and then fill the part where the pit was with cottage cheese.

This is a 200 calorie snack that has 9 grams of protein and 7 grams of fiber. Plus it’s super easy to make and even easier to clean up! If you’re a person in a rush or on the go, this is a great healthy snacking option.

3. Sunflower lentil spread with pita bread
If you’re trying to watch the carbs, I recommend you stay away from this one, but if you’re not worried about gluten or carbs, then this is the perfect 180 calorie snack. Lentils are an excellent source of iron and iron actually helps boost the metabolism by approximately 20 percent! With 10 grams of fiber and 10 grams of protein, you’re likely to feel like a superhero after you eat this snack! It’s also excellent for an after work out snack!

4. Warm Pear with Cinnamon and Ricotta
In the mood for something on the sweet side? You don’t want to break your diet or give into the candy bar next to you so, this is the perfect snack for just that moment in time. While it’s not super sweet, it’s sweet enough to stop your sweet-tooth cravings!

This is a rich and creamy ricotta cheese mixed with a teaspoon of cinnamon and topped on a pear for a delightful taste bud dancing combo! Half a pear with this on top is about 170 calories! Plus, it’s packed with protein and fiber. To be exact, it has 8 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber. The best part is that cinnamon actually helps with insulin surges and insulin resistance, so your sweet snack just got a whole lot sweeter for your health.

Get Rid Of The Temptation
You can’t eat it if it’s not there. I’m not saying you should throw away everything in your pantry that contains sugar. There’s nothing wrong with indulging in a few chocolate chip cookies from time to time. However, if your kitchen contains a lot of junk food you might want to think about removing those items and maybe donating them to a homeless shelter. You’re trying to clean up your eating, right? The only way you can do that is by getting rid of the temptation.
