Antoine Griezmann wants diamond-encrusted rings to celebrate France’s World Cup win

At the request of Antoine Griezmann, the entire France squad may soon be receiving diamond-encrusted mementos of their World Cup triumph.

After being contacted by Griezmann, a jeweller in Los Angeles created a prototype design for a “Superbowl winners” ring, complete with red, white and blue gems and the French Football Federation (FFF) crest rendered in gold. The Atletico Madrid striker is a huge fan of American sports and is reportedly keen to furnish himself with an NFL/NBA style trinket to celebrate France being crowned Champions du Monde earlier this month.

Antoine Griezmann has requested diamond-encrusted rings to mark France’s World Cup win. The Atletico Madrid forward, who is known to be a big fan of American sports, has contacted a jeweller in Los Angeles as he looks to replicate NBA and NFL-style commemorative rings.

He asked Jason of Beverly Hills for prototype image images of a ring featuring blue, white and red gems, the French Football Federation’s crest and the words ‘World Champions’.

Griezmann then posted the mock-up on his Instagram along with song lyrics from the Drake song Big Rings.

It read: ‘Cause I got a really big team. And they need some really big rings.’

According to sources, Jason of Beverly Hills have contacted the French Federation with a proposal for the rings, although players will be able to buy them individually too if officials do not oblige.

France lifted the World Cup for the second time in their history earlier this month after beating Croatia 4-2 in the final – a game in which Griezmann scored a decisive goal.

The 27-year-old converted a controversial penalty to put France 2-1 up just before half-time in Moscow following a Mario Mandzukic own goal and Ivan Perisic’s equaliser.Les Bleus then netted twice in the second period through Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappe to lift the Jules Rimet trophy.

The France forward  said on July 15 that his team has written a new page in French football history after winning the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. The football star brought the World Cup to his hometown, Macon in France, and welcomed the crowd with his daughter.

“It was really a great pleasure, it was something big, I want to thank my teammates, my technical and medical staff, all of you, we also played for you,” he stated. Griezmann was named the man of the match of the finals.

But on Thursday he finally spoke out in a bizarre production to reveal his future lies at the Wanda Metropolitano. The player spoke to his father and brother in the documentary screened by Movistar as they gave him advice on his next move. He also stroked his horses and played basketball with his sibling as the tension built ahead of his final decision.

“My fans, my team, my home,” he finally exclaimed in a message that was also released simultaneously on his Twitter page and shared by his relieved club. I have decided to stay,” said Griezmann. “They are doing everything they can to keep Atletico growing and so that they can play the Champions League final, hopefully at home [in 2019]. They are making an effort to bring top players. This is going to make a difference.”
