As per a report from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, La Liga champions Barcelona have set their sights on the signature of Eupen defender Moussa Wague.

Wague, a 19-year-old right-back, came up through the ranks of the Aspire Academy in Qatar, before making the move to Belgium with Eupen in November of 2016.

The stopper has since gone on to make 40 appearances across all competitions at the Kehrwegstadion, though it was his showings at this summer’s World Cup in Russia which have reportedly seen Wague added to the wishlists of a number of European football’s biggest clubs.

Though Senegal only appeared in a total of 3 matches, the dynamism and power possessed by a number of the stars of The Lions of Teranga quickly caught the eye of onlookers, with the frankly-frightening duo of Wague and Ismaïla Sarr down the Senegalese right-flank having terrorized the backlines of Japan and Poland.

And, as per the aforementioned report from Mundo Deportivo this afternoon, one of the clubs to have been intrigued by Wague’s showings last month were La Liga powerhouse Barcelona.

The Blaugrana are said to be considering a move for the teenage talent, with MD claiming that the move would allow Ernesto Valverde to move Sergi Roberto back into a midfield position.

The report even goes as far as to claim that general manager Pep Segura and sporting director Eric Abidal are already working on the deal, which, if completed, would likely see Wague first link up with Barcelona’s B-Team, before being gradually introduced to the first-team setup of the Catalan giants.
