Joachim Low remains Germany boss despite World Cup disappointment

Joachim Low has decided to stay on as Germany boss after their World Cup humiliation – but he needed five days to make a decision. Having signed a new four-year deal just one month before their shock group-stage exit, Low has committed his future to the national side having received support from the German Football Federation president Reinhard Grindel.

Low will now honour his contract, according to Bild, which runs until the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where he will be tasked with making amends. Low needed several weeks to decide his future after Germany’s 2014 World Cup triumph but this time around he has made the decision hastily. In the wake of their 2-0 defeat by South Korea, which condemned them to an early tournament exit, Low has taken on the responsibility of fixing a side that played well below their usual standards in all three matches.
