Wolverhampton Wanderers to move for Ignazio Abate

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly turned their attention to AC Milan right-back Ignazio Abate after missing out on Joao Cancelo.

Wolves allegedly submitted an offer for Valencia full-back Cancelo, who is instead believed to have opted for Juventusahead of next season.

According to Italian source GazzaMercato, the West Midlands club will now look to sign Abate, who has one year left on his contract at the San Siro.

The 31-year-old left Milan in 2007 after rising through the club’s academy ranks, but returned two years later and made 27 appearances for the side last season.

Abate made his international debut for Italy in 2011 and has since earned 21 further caps with the team.
