Alcacer is often gauged as a casualty of Barcelona’s abundant wealth when it comes to the quality of players who ply their trade for them. Paco Alcacer was signed from Valencia for €30 million but he was always expected to play second fiddle to Suarez. However, Suarez’s levels fitness ensured that Paco was just another bench warmer.
After having joined Barcelona as a promising youngster who scored 13 goals and provided 6 assists in the La Liga at the age of 22, Alcacer has started a total of 14 games in La Liga. Though he has proved that he can score the odd goal, his performances have not really inspired confidence from the fans especially given the fact that he has to fill in Suarez’s boots.
It’s about time that Barcelona sold him. It will be the best thing for both the club and the player. Valverde should look to sign a player who can replicate Suarez’s exploits for years to come.
