Everton Identify Alfie Mawson as the Man to Solve their Defensive Problems

Everton are in the midst of a massive summer for the club as Marco Silva and Marcel Brands look to assess the squad and identify transfer targets ahead of the new season.

The pair are already getting to work singling out specific positions that the Blues need to strengthen – and the defence already been revealed as one. The club have narrowed down to Alfie Mawson.

It’s expected that  Mawson will be leaving Swansea City this summer as the Swans failed to stay in the Premier League.

That has reportedly alerted a number of clubs in England as the centre-back put in a good few impressive displays in South Wales last term, in fact playing every minute in the Premier League for the Swans – becoming one of only five outfield players in the division to achieve that.

Despite only being 24 years old, Mawson has looked composed and mature on multiple occasions against some of the top sides in the division, even with the pressure of a relegation battle over him.

Spurs are the current favourites to secure the defender but it certainly could be one for Everton to consider – especially with the distinct possibility of a cut-price deal following Swansea’s relegation.

A player with Premier League experience could be massively useful, and he’s still at an age where he can flourish and improve at Goodison Park.
