Salah crowned PFA player of the year

With just the concluded Football Writers’ Footballer and PFA awards, Belgium head coach Roberto Martinez has come out claiming that  Roberto Martinez has claimed that Manchester City Midfielder Kevin De Bruyne should have been the one carrying the award home.

This comes after Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah won the awards following his successful season  which he managed to score 44 goals, including 32 in the Premier League to land the Golden Boot.

However, De Bruyne was instrumental as Manchester City broke multiple Premier League records en route to the title, which included breaking the 100-point barrier, as well as winning the EFL Cup.

According to Martinez while speaking to Mirror,”I was surprised De Bruyne didn’t beat Salah to the Player of the Year.”

He further added, “Mo has had an incredible season, the best season in his career. But Kevin almost came into a new way of working with Pep Guardiola, who has a really strong connection with him, and he influenced a lot of things, I understand what Mo did, but, out of the two, Kevin probably had a bigger effect over the season.”
