Espanyol FC has named Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia alias Rubi as the club’s head coach.
The 48-year-old will now work under has previous coaching experience with Los Periquitos and Barcelona, working under Tito Vilanova at the latter for one season.
His contract will now run through until the end of the 2019-20 campaign.
Fresh from taking Huesca into La Liga, Rubi – also known as Joan Francesc Ferrer – has left his position to take charge of Espanyol.
Quique Sanchez Flores was sacked by the Spanish outfit in April en route to an 11th-placed finish in La Liga.
Championship side Stoke City are reportedly interested in talking to Sanchez Flores over becoming their next boss.
