Egypt tipped to surprise many in the World Cup

Despite having been omitted from the final squad that will represent Egypt at the World Cup in Russia, Al Ain winger Hussein El-Shahat believes that side can make it round of 16 in the June showpiece.

The winger feels that Hector Cupen charges will only be troubled by Uruguay, but they can handle the rest of the teams.

“The Uruguay match is definitely the toughest, and if we succeed in achieving a positive result, either a win or a draw, it will pave our way to qualify for the second round. I think Egypt will be the surprise of the World Cup and will make it to the second round.” El-Shahat told DMC Sports

“Whether they were going to take me or not I will always respect the decisions of the technical staff. I am not sad and I hope the team will honor our country and the whole Arab world in the World Cup.”

Africa’s runners-up are in pool A alongside hosts Russia, Saudi Arabia and Uruguay.
