Matiang’i under siege

Interior Cabinet Secretary  Dr. Fred Matiang’i, National Land Commission (NLC) officials and former Attorney General Githu Muigai have been summoned by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)  to record statements over the Sh3.2 billion Ruaraka land payout.

The transaction is said to have been done while Dr. Matiang’i was the Education Cabinet Secretary.

According to sources, Dr Mating’i wrote to National Land Commission (NLC) Prof. Swazuri for acquisition of a 13.5 acre land in Ruaraka for Ruaraka High and Drive-In Primary schools.

According to former attorney general Githu Muigai, his role was to give  legal opinion regarding the acquisition of the land the rest including payment and tittle deeds was to be handled by the Ministry and the NLC Commission.

Dr. Matiang’i is expected to appear before the EACC to give clarity on the matter,but according to Interior Affairs spokesman Mwenda Njoka, the minister has not received any invitation yet.

Two of the firms that were involved in the land acquisition have been paid a total of Ksh 1.5billion, a balance of Sh1.7 billion has been stopped to allow for investigation.
