Shield holders AFC Leopards will kick off their campaign with an away clash against former Kenyan Premier League side Shabana FC.
Last season’s Runners-up Kariobangi Sharks will be in Nanyuki for a clash against Nanyuki Allstars. Gor Mahia who were shocked by Bandari in last years edition will be at the coast for a clash against SS Asad.
KPL sides
Other KPL sides that will take part in the competition include 2016 winners Tusker, 2015 winners Bandari, Ulinzi Stars, Wazito FC, Newbies Vihiga United, Wazito FC, Kakamega Homeboyz, Sony Sugar and Nzoia Sugar among other top tier sides.
The tournament will be known as 2018 SportPesa Shield tournament, with 64 clubs set to take part. It will kick off on 1st June and the finals will be in October.
The winner of the tournament will pocket Ksh 2 Million prize money and will also represent the country in next season’s CAF Confederations Cup.
