No more Ugali sosa if new bill is passed

Kenyans may soon dig deep into their pockets while buying bread, flour and cassava. This is set to enact if Tax Laws Amendment Bill, 2018  tabled in Parliament last month is passed and signed into law.

The bill seeks to have the three consumer products tax status changed from Zero to exempted which will hence lead to prices of the products rise causing a disadvantage to the consumer.

According to audit film  PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) the bill to exempt tax on this commodities will lead to increase in cost of the products which is not good for the people who depend of them on daily basis.

The government has however been advised to rethink about the soon to be law as the common citizen will highly be affected.

In addition  food takes the largest percentage as a basic need to the consumer hence high cost of living is likely to go up once the bill is passed into law.
