Are you an As3xual or just lonely

Oh there are many things society gets wrong about asexuals. I list some of them below, but it could be possible that I forgot some points. An allosexual person (a person that experiences sexual attraction) often thinks that asexuals never have sex and could never enjoy it. In fact, they think a person can’t be asexual while enjoying sex at the same time.

However, the definition of asexuality is “lack of sexual attraction towards any gender”. A lack of sexual attraction just means we usually don’t have the urge to be in a sexual relationship, but we can still enjoy it if we are in one. Or we don’t, it’s actually different with every person.

Allosexual people often have sex without loving the person whatsoever, so why do they feel sexual attraction but asexuals don’t? This is especially the case in asexual’s portrayal in the media, in which they are usually depicted as lonely geniuses who don’t have any social life, until they find the right person and they are “cured”.

From what I’ve observed from my friends throughout the years, they started thinking about sex at the age of 14 on average. I started idetifiying as asexual (or gray-asexual later on) at the age of 16 and people told me I was too young to know it, while my friends at the same age were having sex all day long.

I actually had this discussion with a friend of mine just one week ago. He just couldn’t understand how I could have the desire for a romantic relationship when I am asexual. He didn’t understand the difference between romantic and sexual attraction at all. For him, it seemed to be exactly the same.

Often, people don’t understand that there are different ways to express affection in a relationship besides sex, and that asexuals usually don’t find things like kissing or cuddling sexual.
