Wiper Party will seals Kalonzo fate on presidential race 2021 just an year 2022 election.
Despite the supremacy battle between Kalonzo and Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana, Wiper states that their fate will be announced one year ahead.
Kalonzo has been facing opposition within Ukambani from Alfred Mutua,Charity Ngilu and Kivutha Kibwana.
Alfred Mutua (Machakos), Charity Ngilu (Kitui) and Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) early this year said Kambas need fresh leadership that more focused on developing the region and negotiating strongly for national resources.
The three county chiefs, who met in Kivandini, Machakos County, at Dr Mutua’s invitation, held a closed-door meeting before addressing two public rallies in Masinga Constituency, where they accused Mr Musyoka for fomenting political wars in their counties.
“Going forward, we’ll speak with one voice to unite the community and negotiate directly with the national government on the issues affecting our region,” Dr Mutua, said.
Governors Alfred Mutua (Machakos) and Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) are serving their second and final terms. While Dr. Mutua has declared an interest in running for president in 2022, the online community has been piling pressure on Prof Kibwana to join the race.
The two have teamed up with Kitui’s Charity Ngilu, a first-term governor but veteran politician who was the first woman to vie for the presidency in 1997.
Mavoko Member of Parliament Patrick Makau has disclosed that the Wiper party will hold nominations ahead of 2022 general if another candidate is interested in the presidency.
Speaking during an interview in Mbaitu FM on Tuesday, Mavoko MP Makau said the party settled on Kilonzo Musyoka because there’s no one who has shown interest to wrestle him.
“For now the party supports Kalonzo Musyoka as the presidential candidate in 2022 but if another candidate comes up, we will absolutely hold nominations,” said the MP who observed that Kalonzo is the best bet in 2022 due to his unquestionable clean record.
He also urged residents in Ukambani to register as voters ahead of the 2022 elections citing that it’s important that the great support for Kalonzo to be from his backyard.
Makau further admitted that there was a misunderstanding that led to some leaders from the party to leave.
He asked for forgiveness on behalf of the party and urged those who quit the party to meet with officials and resolve the matter.
Kalonzo is said to be preparing to join forces with Musalia Mudavadi and Gideon Moi who also have declared interest for the seat to succeed president Uhuru.
Also, Deputy President William Ruto has vowed that he will contest and nothing will stop him.
Recently Francis Atwoli said that the DP won’t e in the ballot.
