Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is over the moon after detectives drawn from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on Thursday arrested two Nairobi County officials while receiving bribes in Spring Valley.
In a video shared by the Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, the duo and two other accomplices were arrested after being handed a Sh60,000 bribe.
Governor Sonko revealed that the officials had demanded for a Sh 100,000 bribe “in order to offer free county services and issue fake Single Business Permit licence to the public.”
Governor Sonko said more county officials will be arrested in connection with bribe taking.
He said the beneficiaries of bribes at City Hall include senior cashiers, accountants and auditors.

Meanwhile, Sonko gave a status of ultra-modern Wakulima currently under construction.
“The Nairobi City County Government is committed to promotion of trade in the city by improving the business environment and also construction of additional markets,” he said.
“Construction of the New Wakulima market along Kangundo road is about 90% complete. The market is being built by administration in conjunction with the national government. It is expected to be completed and handed over to the county government later in the year. The market has a capacity to host over 1,500 traders both wholesale and retail.”
