Kenyan authorities rescue eight Eritreans victims of human trafficking

It is one of the evilest trends in the crime world that is reviled by many. Human trafficking is a syndicate being fought by detectives all over the world including Kenya.

Detectives from the Transnational Organized Crime Unit, acting on intelligence, today have revealed raiding the rented home of 46yr-old Alexender Kinyanjui and rescuing nine male victims of Human Trafficking

The victims are all Ethiopian nationals aged between 20 years and 36 years. They are reportedly well and safe meanwhile the suspect is in custody.

Last month Kenya Police rescued 25 Burundian women suspected to be victims of human trafficking in Ruiru, a town 25km northwest of Nairobi’s city center.

In a raid on Thursday morning, officers from the transnational organized crime unit descended on the Gwa Kairu homestead and arrested three Kenyan women.

According to the DCI, the 25 victims were being held hostage at the compound in readiness for transit to Asian countries.

In a 2018 report by the US State Department, Kenya was named as a source, transit, and destination for human trafficking.

While the country passed the Counter-Trafficking in Persons Act in 2010, it is yet to effectively stem the vice.
