Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has today ordered for the release of patients held in our county hospitals over unpaid medical bills.

This move comes in line to the Good Deeds Day 2019 celebrations which were today held at City Hall, Nairobi.

Following his orders, over 30 patients were discharged from Mbagathi hospital to join their families, while at Mama Lucy Hospital 20 others have been freed.

Speaking to the media, one of the freed patients said that he had been in the hospital for about a month and his pending bill was over 18 000 Kenyan shillings.

He also went further to explain that he could not afford it but he is indeed very grateful that Sonko gave the order for them to be released.

As the Good Deeds Day Ambassador in Kenya, Sonko is set to host the Good Deeds Africa Regional Conference in Nairobi in August this year.

“The spirit of Good Deeds is that if people think good, speak good and do good, the circles of goodness will grow in the world.I also urge the private sector to embrace Good Deeds because, as they say, “Doing good is good business”.” he said
