Earlier yesterda, Kenyan Female Artist Akothee joined Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko during the Nairobi monthly clean-up exercise at Umama grounds in Komarock, Embakasi Central Sub-County.
Akothee had earlier announced her agenda and said that she was indeed grateful to be invited to join Sonko, other leaders and delegates from the Chinese Embassy.
Nairobi Governor Sonko noted that he was impressed with the move by the Chinese government to partner with his administration in the monthly clean-up campaign.
He also revealed that the Chinese government will from next month provide working tools, heavy machinery equipment and trucks to boost the clean-up initiative.
In addition China will also mobilize Chinese nationals in Nairobi to participate in the campaign.
Sonko also thanked UN-HABITAT, UNEP and other partners, as well as female musician Akothee for supporting the Nairobi clean-up campaign.
Sonko and Akothee have both been on the frontline and are known for their philanthropic works.
A couple weeks ago, the pair both took relief food to Turkana amid the drought situation.
In line to the clean up exercise,Sonko issued a directive to his officers to arrest and prosecute those who pollute our environment by dumping garbage in undesignated areas.
