Handshake season 2?? Sonko vows

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, has vowed to bridge the political gap between Deputy President William Ruto and Opposition leader Raila Odinga as the two 2022 presidential frontrunners continue to feud in public.

According to the Nairobi County governor, the war of words between the two top leaders is raising political tensions and puts the country at the risk of violence.

Speaking at a funeral service in Wotea Village, Makueni County on Saturday, Sonko said he will ensure that DP Ruto and Raila Odinga have their own handshake.

“Mimi nashirikiana na wazee wa kanisa huko Nairobi, nitahakikisha Raila Odinga na William Ruto pia watakua na handshake yao…

(I am working together with church elders in Nairobi and I will ensure Raila Odinga and William Ruto also have a handshake),” he said.

Sonko further called on politicians to refrain from 2022 politics and instead focus on serving Kenyans and development.

He observed that should DP Ruto and Raila reach a truce, Kenya would be peaceful for years to come.

“Na kama ni siasa ya 2022 tuache, tukue na lineup ya handshake, mi najua Raila na Deputy President William Ruto wakifanya handshake wasalimiane, Kenya usalama utakua miaka nenda miaka rudi…

(Let us stop focusing on 2022 politics and instead have a handshake lineup, I know if Raila and Deputy President William Ruto have a handshake, peace in Kenya will last for many years),” Sonko said.
