A woman is receiving treatment at Masinga level 3 hospital after her husband allegedly poured petrol on her in an attempt to set her ablaze in the tragic case of domestic dispute gone sour.
The Monday night incident happened at Katothya village. The woman who preferred to stay incognito says she got home late only to find her husband who works in the city had returned back without her knowledge.
” It is like he had some information that I normally come home late. When i opened the door he was ready waiting for me. He poured petrol on me and lit a match setting me a blaze”, said the woman.
She says she was lucky because after noticing she had caught fire, she immediately took off her clothes prevent further injuries.
” I had to remove my clothes, otherwise i would be worse than what you can see”, she added.
Masinga OCPD Francis Siror confirmed the incident although he divulged that the suspect still remains at large.
” We have not arrested the man. We are contemplating on what charges to press on him. He is just within”, said Siror. It still remains unclear what exactly caused the husband to act in such fatal fashion.
