Raila distances ODM from Orengo’s motion to impeach Ruto

Siaya Senator James Orengo’s move to impeach Ruto has now been said to be an individual move rather than a representation of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) initiative.

The Senior Counsel and ODM politician pledged on Sunday to institute an impeachment motion against Deputy President William Ruto based on graft accusations.

“I want to repeat here and now that the Senate together with the National Assembly, we want to bring a motion of impeachment to kick out DP Ruto from office,” Orengo said in Ugenya.

However, posting on his social media, Raila Junior has said that the move, ”
doesn’t necessarily have to be a position of his party ODM,” as Orengo, “is within his right to bring amotion of no confidence just like any other Kenyan.”

This is despite an ODM post on Twitter that presented a united front of the whole party on Ruto’s impeachment.

“ODM tells DP William Ruto to quit government for engaging in corrupt activities,” the post read.

While it is general knowledge that majority of ODM leaders, including the top leader Raila Odinga are not fans of the Deputy President, does it not seem more like a party’s motion than an individual?
